My Egg Business

My name is Emmy and I’m 12 years old. I am selling eggs to save money for college. I want to go to school for business to be successful and create a bigger business from this one.

I enjoy riding horses, playing volleyball and hanging out with my friends. My favorite subject in school is math.

We have a variety of hens laying different colored eggs, from white and brown to blue, green and pink.

I pride myself on raising happy and healthy hens. My ladies are well fed and cared for. I have a 1/4 acre chicken yard for them to free range on pasture grass and my family practices permaculture gardening techniques, and my chickens love hanging in the shade of their own personal aspen grove and rooting around on the hugelkultur.

My daily care routine includes fresh water twice a day, non-GMO layer crumble with vegetable scraps and they can root around for worms and bugs all day. I collect eggs each afternoon. My dad helps me care for any hens that are exhibiting signs of illness.

The ladies enjoy the company of our horses in the pasture next to them. They also like taking dust baths with the cats. A few of them have attitudes but they are all handled daily and friendly to my little brothers and sister.

We charge $4.00 per dozen of eggs. (If you don’t know what a dozen is it is 12 eggs).
